JUHA SUONPÄÄ Archive-installation It is most fitting that people who are interested in giving their business a green image – in other words, those who pollute the most – should be the ones to pay for pictures of nature. However, it is of course impossible to argue that pictures of nature might benefit nature in some way. Rather the opposite. This archive-installation consists of tens of thousands of photographs of nature which have remained from my days as a professional photographer. I have amassed boxes of them in the lofts of my barn and cowshed, where they have been for the past ten years. Slides and prints are barely recognisable: at the mercy of the weather, the colours have changed and faded; the emulsions have acquired a lovely layer of mould, and before long they will again be a part of nature.
