Future climate Path tells about the ongoing change along the Salo river As river Uskelanjoki turns into river Salonjoki it’s nature changes, too; for decades people have transformed the river catchment and the water cycle. In the future changes are increasingly led by natural conditions; the cosequences of climate change are going to be visible also along the course of the Salo River as well as in people’s everyday life. The Future Climate Path work explores past and future changes –proven or felt – at the course of the Salo River. The work comprises a series of eight large-scale posters, which are displayed following the course of the river from Uskela Church to the Vuohensaari island in the bay of Halikko. The screens portray locally visible impacts of climate change on the hydrological cycle starting with changes in precepitation patterns and ending sea level rise. The work is created by Simo Haanpää and Johannes Klein in cooperation with citizens and the administration of Salo. |
